How does it work?
The Design Stage
You work with a university or college to design a learning plan that is relevant to your business and the development of your staff. learndirect can help to identify a suitable university or college if you would like us to.
Approval Stage
The university or college will review and approve the learning plan.
The Implementation Stage
Your employees will start to undertake the activities set out in the learning plan and produce evidence of learning for assessment as they go.
The Assessment Stage
At the design stage the assessment requirements for each module will have been agreed. The learners submit work for assessment as agreed in the plan. To get the most from the learning experience and to maximise the business benefits from the outset, assessment is normally based on real work activities and projects and might include:
- Portfolios of evidence.
- Management reports.
- Business plans.
- Essays and other narratives.
- Practical projects.
- Research, investigations and outcomes.
- Software programmes, websites or critiques.
- Dissertations.
- Creative projects.
Learners are required to support their assessments by providing reference to wider reading and relevant materials.
Marking
A tutor will check the quality of work and assess it accordingly so that the relevant credits can be given for each module. As is the case of traditional programmes, assessments are reviewed by specialist external examiners.
Award of Qualification
Once all the modules of the programme have been completed, the final qualification will be awarded. In the case of shorter programmes the participants can leave it there or use the credits at a later date to contribute to a full qualification.
